On Monday, September 15, Writers' Trust was delighted to present Leslie Jamison live in conversation at the Royal Ontario Museum at a flagship event hosted by Ali Hassan and moderated by Marni Jackson.

Leslie Jamison’s impressive body of work places her at the heart of contemporary nonfiction. The acclaimed American author of The Recovering, The Empathy Exams, Make It Scream, Make It Burn, and The Gin Closet is a leading voice in contemporary nonfiction, with work in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times, Harper’s, and more.

"Jamison has the rare gift of being able to fuse her most intimate thoughts with insights gleaned from rigorous scholarship in the social sciences and history."—Award Jury

The event featured a presentation from Jamison followed by an interview with Canadian author Marni Jackson and a book signing. The authors discussed the place of nonfiction writing in our world, the specificity and universality of storytelling, and the multifaceted nature of narrative. Copies of Jamison's books were available for purchase, courtesy of Ben McNally Books.

Guests attending the event included award-winning Canadian writers, jury members, Canadian culture leaders, and our beloved literary community. Thank you to all who attended this year's Weston International Award event to celebrate nonfiction writing.
